With only an estimated 1,600 living in the wild, the Giant Panda's survival depends on the fruitful reproduction of each member of the species. To that end, naturalists and zoologists worldwide have dedicated themselves to stabilizing and encouraging the endangered creature's notoriously low birthrate. Follow two topsy-turvy seasons of panda mating at the Smithsonian National Zoo, where female Mei Xiang and her mate, Tian Tian, finally succeed in giving birth to a panda cub.
