As an educator and someone fascinated with Early Man I originally viewed this show as "The First CAnadians" on the " Aboriginal Peoples Television Network" in 2005. It never showed again and was totally buried - no copies available for love or money. It was random chance that I found it listed on Discovery Channel while searching for other products. Kudos to the USA and Discovery Channel. This is a hypothesis that needs academic and broad social discussion.

This is a surprising video in that it pretty clearly shows that the "Solutrean Theory" is more than a theory. Solutreans from Europe obviously arrived in North America first, as evidence shows by the discovery of Kennewick Man, a skeleton in Nevada, and the female skeleton in Idaho, tools and other artifacts, and god knows what else that have been basically taken from scientists who were carbon dating, studying the bone structure, etc. of these skeletons that pre date Asiatics in North America by thousands of years, before the end of the last ice age. It is a crime that this kind of discovery is hidden or reburied under the misguided idea that they are "native American remains." Kennewick Man's remains sit in a corner of the Burke Museum of the University of Washington, hidden from any more scientific research, much the same as censorship.

I teach 8th grade American History and wanted something to show my students about the first Americans. It was not what I thought it was going to be. I was entertained, but knew right away it isn't right for the classroom.

Finally, proof about the real first Americans. The Europeans really were the first Americans, the Indians came thousands of years later.

Required viewing for all History buffs, students, teachers, and those who prefer to keep up with the latest in archaeological research. Buy a copy and when you are done watching it, donate it to your local middle or high school history department. Too many people and textbooks continue to push false history..........use this video to get the truth out.

I think I was expecting more of a strict documentary, but I enjoyed the added hypothetical storyline. I feel that there are more possible scenarios and I would love to hear more on this subject. There seem to be so many inconsistencies with dating early human archeological sites in the Americas. And now the DNA questions! I really want to know more about that!

My sister-in-law's DNA showed that her very ancient ancestors came from Europe 18,000 years ago and not via Siberia centuries later which is commonly thought to be how humans first came to America. She tried to explain how it could happen but I couldn't understand as I had never before heard of a "land bridge" of ice spanning the Atlantic Ocean. This explained it all to me. I showed it to my sister-in-law and now she has ordered copies for all of her children to explain this curious lineage.

I would love to see more DNA studies done on eastern North American tribes to support or dispute this theory. I realize such DNA testing is made difficult by the fact that so many of these groups have gone extinct or commingled with whites and blacks to the point that it might be well nigh impossible to separate out ancient from modern European DNA. Still, there are some relatively "pure blood" (I know, a loaded term) groups whose haplogroups might show a European connection.

Then there is this question -- just what would these Solutreans have looked like 20,000 years ago? I doubt that they would resemble modern day Spaniards or Frenchmen, not with all of the Italic and North African mixing that has occurred in the past 2000 years. Were they tall, red-haired and blue-eyed or were they stocky, black-haired, and dark-eyed? Or something in between? There was so much variety in the appearance of North American Indians and their languages so mutually unintelligible that one can imagine quite easily that some newcomers came from across the Atlantic and not Siberia. And, what language did the Solutreans speak? Probably impossible to know.

there are several sites, not just from virginia, that have yielded evidence of occupation from this time period. not only that, evidence fr south america shows that people were there as well. one thing that needs to be made clear, particularly to those like 'anonymous', is that these people were not 'white'. they were caucasoid, a group that includes europeans & people from the levant, india, etc. there are old skeletons from post-clovis time that appear to be from population groups of asia before the advent of the modern asian look. the south american skeleton resemble the people who colonised australia. most likely, people were coming from all over.
sorry to disappoint you, 'anonymous'. we were no more 'first' than the ancestors of the aborigines, it seems.

I think this is an informative story based on actual historical evidence that was found, and I really enjoyed the new perspective it gave me on human migration patterns. I don't understand all of the "one-upmanship" racially motivated comments that have been made about who was really here first (mentioned in previous reviews). I am disappointed that this story is being used to discredit the history of people of any background, European or Native. It certainly has less to do with who is right or wrong than it does with considering other possibilities as to how North America was settled. I mean, really, we all originated from the same place, we're all human, so get over it. I loved this story, and would gladly watch it again, just as much for the fact as for the fiction.

As more mt-dna and y-dna is collected the picture will become clear why the Anishinaabe (Ojibwa) called themselves the "Original People". This description didn't refer to Columbus and settlers in the last 500 years but toward the Asian settlers that came thousands of years ago. Over the last 10,000 they have merged into a proud and nature loving people.

Strong visuals and an interesting theory, but that Europeans "discovered" the Americas is stretch. Also, this video gives Euro-and Americentric racists an argument that the Native Americans cannot claim these continents as their own, thus allowing Euro-Americans to feel guilt-free about the taking of the land and the subsequent genocide of Native Americans. My feeling is that many peoples (Asians, Polynesians, Europeans) came to the Americas as far back as 70,000 years before present.

Great movie about early people. No nudity whatsoever! I was confused about how the Europeans came to North America. Our Social Studies textbook talks about how early people crossed the Bering Strait into North America. This video was mainly how early Europeans came over. Is this a theory or fact? I bought this dvd on sale for $5.00, It is well worth the original price.

I would recommend this DVD to any one. It will change your perspective of what you have been taught. Is it possible that European Whites were actually the first to discover America? I do believe that this is so. I believe that God always sends out a scounting party; a reconassaince mission so to speak. I think that this is what may have happened. It is interesting that "America" in Gothic actually means "kingdom of heaven." Is this what God had planned all along, I think so. Get this video; watch it, and you will learn. Show it to your friends. It will change all that you have been taught about history, and who really were the first American"s. Evidently, it wasn"t the American Indians.

A nice little show. Interesting and kept me glued to the tv screen. Longer clips of the Ice age animals would be great. Sadly The Saber toothed Cat and Short faced bear are only shown for less than two mins. This show is based on a flint spear point found in the usa 17,000 years ago. Its a slim chance that two groups would meet up so far away across the ocean. But its tv not real life. If you got the money to spare, Then buy it...

I could do without the speed ramping/camera gimmicks, but in general its well done. The topic of migrations into the Americas other than via the Bering Strait is very interesting, and sure to be more important as more evidence is uncovered. Good job!
