My son is interested in explosive demolition -- meaning he likes to watch things get blown up -- Apparently he's not alone. This 3 DVD set explains the science behind explosive demolition and the characters, Braden Lusk, PhD and Paul Worsey, PhD are a couple of brilliant goofy guys who play off of each other really well. Their enthusiasm is genuine and they make engineering science look fun. Braden is a young and handsome pick-up truck driving professor with a wonderful southern drawl and Paul is an eccentric madman right out of Monty Python. We really enjoy this DVD set and give it as a gift at birthday parties. It always gets watched.

This is a bit like certain "experiment" shows in that it flips between demolition sites and demonstrations of how explosives are used in the trade. Ever see what a shaped charge can do to a girder? The hosts take you to a site where a 600 foot tall chimney is to be demolished, then build their own small chimney at a test site to show the viewer how the job will be done. This show moves at a slower pace than "Destroyed in Seconds," but it is still very entertaining for those of us who like to see things go boom.

Ever since I was a kid "Many Years Ago" the thought of blowing things up wasd a rush, I use to bulid model ships, cars and airplanes, I put numerous hours into them and then wentout in the back yard and "Blew Them Up" with firecrackers

but first, if you liked the show on tv, the few times it was on, you will love owning it and watching it at home with only a split second break for commercials.
the only negative thing, which turned out okay but could've been REALLY bad was that when the package came, all three dvds were rattling around. even though one of them looked like it had scratches, all three played perfectly. so my advice is for discovery to ENSURE that the dvds are held in place in their packaging so no one is disappointed. if you do have trouble playing it due to scratches, it could be that a better quality dvd player is needed. my cheap one always freezes on dvds even if they[re brand new with no scratches. but my better machine pays through any scratches, dust etc.
