I teach a unit on the Gettysburg Address and a short story called "The Battleground" for an 8th grade Literature class. This video provided the background information on the Battle of Gettysburg and the Gettysburg Address that my students needed for reference points and perspective. The video is engaging with a perfect balance of action and information.

As the family genealogist, I found this dvd to be most useful in that it describes the experiences of my Great Great Grandfather, John Moore. As a Lincolnologist, I found it clear, concise, and factual. An outstanding piece of documentary cinemagraphic work.

I really thought the battle scenes were outstanding! The reenactors, especially the confederates looked very period correct! Whoever cast these soldiers certainly knew what they were doing. I wish the edits weren"t so quick as I would have liked to have seen even more battle reenactments. The digital maps were cool too......It"s nice to see the story of Culps Hill for a change. There are only a few minor histiorical Inconsistencies that only an overly particular histoirian may take issue with. There hasn"t been many new documentaries about Gettysburg as of late, so it"s nice to see another take on the largest battle in the western hemisphere....Gettysburg.This should be onb TV! I give it a 9 out 10! I recommend this DVD highly, well worth the 14 bucks.
