The core gang of 12 hard-hit Recession survivors on Gold Rush Alaska tell the story of how far people will go to preserve the American Dream. Most of the lead characters have lost their jobs and have been forced on hard times. But one of them - Todd Hoffman - recalls his father's success as a gold miner in decades past and decides to pull together a crew of friends and acquaintances in similar predicaments. As a group, they invest all they have left in an effort to strike gold in Alaska. With no formal training among most of them, this is a gamble of the highest order…resulting in drama that you just couldn't dream up.
