Season 1 introduces you to a great cast of characters, and characters they are. From start to finish it is a complete joy to watch, with the exception of a death among them. Plan on ordering Seasons 2 and 3 and wish they would show us now how they are doing.

The Orangutan Island show/DVD is unlike anything else I've ever seen. The aminals are engaging, and their exploits riviting. I do realize that the narrator attributes to the orangs qualities that they probably really don't possess, but that's part of the charm of the show. After a few episodes, you begin to be able to identify individual animals and to care about what each is doing and how they're faring, who's in charge, who's being left out, etc.
Wonderful, different, and always unpredictable. My only complaint is that there is no DVD for any other season but season one. I'd definitely buy others ( not sure how many seasons there are ).

I bought this as a gift to myself/from my husband so that I didn't have to keep getting up at 5 a.m. to view and so we could watch it as a family. It is funny, and sometimes sad to watch these orphaned comedians who all have very different and captivating personalities. This show is addictive. I only wish there were more. Not only is this educational, but is great material for adoptive families as well!

The animal actions are all real....could not be set up and had a re-take. All the story lines attached to the movements are hard to swallow, but if they are true it's even more amazing. We know the babies are cute but this series also shows the dangers of animal behaviors. They do NOT make good pets.

Having visited a care centre in Borneo, I am now a member of the Australian Orangutan Project and do all I can to raise funds for these gorgeous creatures. This DVD puts across the plight of the orangutan in an entertaining, fun way. It would be wonderful to see it shown in schools to bring home the message that we have to stop using products with non-sustainable palm oil or we'll lose these beautiful, fun-loving, adorable animals.
