Unwrapping The Shroud DVD

Unwrapping the Shroud: It is one of the most controversial relics in all Christendom. Some believe it to be a physical link to Jesus of Nazareth - his crucified image imprinted onto a 1st Century linen cloth. For others, it is nothing more than an elaborate medieval forgery. For centuries, people have argued about the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin. In 1988, the definitive scientific verdict on the Shroud was announced: a radiocarbon dating concluded the Shroud of Turin was a 700-year-old medieval hoax. But today, new scientific findings pose the first substantive challenge to the 1988 radiocarbon dating. If these findings prove to be accurate, then the age and authenticity of the Shroud of Turin will, once again, be open to debate.

The Davinci Shroud: The Turin Shroud is the world's most famous and mysterious religious relic. Believers think it once wrapped the tortured and crucified body of Jesus Christ, but in the 1970's it was revealed as a medieval fake. Who made the image on the shroud has baffled scientists for decades, but now a controversial theory says it could be the work of master artist Leonardo Da Vinci. Did Da Vinci fake the Turin Shroud, and how did he pull off the hoax of the millenium?

    Comments about this product:

This is undeniable proof that the carbon date on the Shroud of Turin is wrong. There are many other proofs not covered in this video which prove the Shroud is the burial cloth of Christ, with the energy of the resurrection leaving an imprint of His face and suffering for future generations to see. But detailing that evidence would take several hours. This video, however, shows compelling evidence as to why the carbon date is wrong, evidence that I have not seen in other sources.

The addition of the Di Vinci hoax theory was a little silly and not at all credible. They should not have included that part.

      Comments about this product:

I would have chosen a different forensic pathologist. The blood is clearly at the wrist - not in the palm of the hand, nor does it appear to run from the palm up to to the wrist. Even if this gentleman's experiments demonstrate to his satisfaction that nails through the palms could have supported the weight of a body -it is irrelevant, given the location of the wound. And what medieval forger would have shown the nail in the wrist instead of in the palms of the hands - thus flaunting tradition and probably Church Dogma.
However, this program is invaluable for the information it provides on the work on Benford and Marino and the critical analysis by Ray Rogers and the work he performed using material from the Shroud, including samples left over from the C-14 tests.
      It is a must see.
They could have saved space and dropped the DaVinci theory.

Why would a Production Company spend the greater amout of viewing time on POSITIVE SCIENTIC DATA and then turn around and try to debunk all the scientific data, with the sole exception of one test ... Carbon 14?

          Comments about this product:

As a Shroud voyeur, this was a new experience in its unfolding. I've followed it since the 1970s and have been watching the science reveal itself, fact by fact. There is no longer any doubt that we are looking at the face of Jesus, The Man. It's really a sickening feeling though to see the producers add some lame Da Vinci radical nut-theory on the end for some unknown purpose? Money I suppose. But when we see the athiest Ray Rogers prove the carbon-14 dating was wrong, we now know we are looking at the face of Consciousness.

            Comments about this product:

It is regretful that in order to purchase the well done "Unwrapping the Shroud" DVD you have to also receive the antiquated "Davinci Shroud" speculation-filled DVD with it. Russ Breault has a large number of scientific videos online that also confirm that the Shroud's validity and confirm that it could not possibly be a painting.

            Comments about this product:

"Unwrapping the Shroud" has to be the best documentary film on the Shroud that has ever been made. Everyone who wants to know the truth about the Shroud needs to see this video to understand the amazing research done by the late Sue Benford and Ray Rogers. Their work and recent results from Los Alamos National Lab have shown why the 1988 radiocarbon dating is invalid. The area that was tested has been proven to be a different composition than the rest of the Shroud.
I only gave this DVD 4 stars because I am disappointed that the "Da Vinci Shroud" video was added to the same DVD. Even the description of the Da Vinci video is in error. The Shroud was NOT shown to be a fraud "in the 1970's".

            Comments about this product:

I am so pleased that Discovery has decided to make Unwrapping the Shroud available for purchase! It has to be one of the best and most scientific videos of the Shroud ever made. The "interwoven" stories (no pun intended) of the late Sue Benford and Ray Rogers, make this documentary fascinating when combined with the amazing scientific mystery of the Shroud. If the DVD just contained this video, I would have given it 5 stars. HOWEVER, the DaVinci video has to be the worst, unscientific video made about the Shroud. It's too bad that "Unwrapping" must share space on the same DVD.
